Question Tags

Grammar is cool, isn't it?

Hierboven zie je een voorbeeld van een question tag. 

Een question tag is de korte vraag aan het einde van de zin. 

Je vraagt eigenlijk: 'klopt dat?' of 'Ben je het ermee eens?' 

In het Nederlands gebruik je dan: 'vind je niet?', 'toch?', 'hè?' 

 In het Engels is er een regel voor het maken van deze  

question tags. 

Tags

• Een tag is een kort vraagje aan het einde van een zin:                                 aren't you....?    hasn't she.....?  am I....?
  
• Waarom denk je dat de spreker dit doet?
• Om eigenlijk te vragen of dat het klopt of dat hij/zij dat gedaan heeft etc. 
• In het Nederlands zeggen wij vaak: nietwaar?, toch?, hé?

Bevestigende zinnen en ontkennende zinnen 

You did go to the movies, didn't you?

She did see him leave, didn't she?

Dus....

Na een bevestigende zin (+) is de tag ontkennend (-)

Na een ontkennende zin (-) is de tag bevestigend (+)

Vorm van to be en hulpwerkwoorden

The laptop is very slow, isn't it? 

He wouldn't do that, would he?

She had been to the doctors, hasn't she?

Vorm van to be en hulpwerkwoorden

The laptop is very slow, isn't it? 

He wouldn't do that, would he?

She has been to the doctors, hasn't she?

In de tag herhaal je de vormen van to be en van hulpwerkwoorden (bijv. have, can, would).

• Maar wat doe je als die vormen niet in de zin staan. 

• They need some space, don't they? 
  
• Dan moet je de juiste vorm van to be gebruiken.
• They need some space, don't they?
