First conditional (Unit 5)?

If-sentences (first conditional)   Unit 5

• Bestaan uit 2 delen:

- Bijzin met voorwaarde (begint met if)

- Hoofdzin met gevolg

• Likely to happen (waarschijnlijk)

Dus bijvoorbeeld:

Als we de bus missen, nemen we een taxi.

If we miss the bus, we will get a taxi.

• Unlikely situations and their unlikely  results (onwaarschijnlijk met onwaarschijnlijk resultaat)
  

           if + past simple  + would + verb

If I won a lot of money, I would buy a big house in the country.

Form

if + past simple, ...would + infinitive (base form)

    For example:

• If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.
  

     (I probably won't win the lottery)

• I would give him my number if he asked me.
  

     (He might not ask me)

Second conditional

If I told him what I really thought, he would be upset.

or

He would be upset if I told him what I really thought.
